Clever Models - Haunted House I would like to say that the obvious sideways list in the building, was completely intended. The foundation detail is actually glued to a 1/2 inch plywood base. I traced the bottom of the building on to the plywood, and cut it out with a jig saw. Next, the building was set on to the foundation plywood base, and finally, that was glued on to the main base plate, which was spray painted black. Side note, the front-most roof detail, with the circular design in the middle- I took little nubs of 1/8 inch balsa stick spacers, and glued them on the back. Color them black with a Sharpie first. Then they were glued to the back of the detail piece, and it gave it a solid purchase to the building, plus it was perfectly spaced. Rear of the house. I inset the large upper window with 1/8 inch balsa stick. Next was to cut out the individual wood strips to "board up" the window. Little storage box at the bottom. I am not very proficient at rolling card stock into tubes, so I elected to use a smoke stack from a wood stove. I found a piece of aluminum tube, so as to extend the smoke stack above the roof. Airbrushed it all with flat black. Cellar entrance at the base of the house. Detail shot of how I build the cellar outside entrance. Sometimes, I find myself fumbling, when a structure piece is to be cut and folded out of one single, printed image. My solution is to simply cut the fold lines, and piece everything together, using balsa reinforcement. Picture is a little grainy, but my quick and dirty solution to the smoke stack was to use a plastic kit, made by Altoona Model Works. Had to extend it with some aluminum tubing.
